Please read our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) for more information about the Student House Ljubljana.

1. Q: Which rooms are available at the moment?
A: Please check the website Availability.
2. Q: I would like to rent the room in the Student House Ljubljana. What is the procedure?
A: Please check the website for Information about the contract and the payment.
3. Q: I live near Slovenia, and it might happen that my relatives or friends would like to visit me during my stay. Would it be okay if they stayed overnight in my room?
A: Unfortunately, not. There is room for 7 students, and we also think there is not enough space in the room itself for more than 1 person. All the beds are size 90×200 cm.
4. Q: Is there a cleaning schedule, or does someone regularly clean the common rooms?
A: Students arrange their own cleaning schedule and clean the house themselves. They must regularly clean the common areas and the room they rent.
We charge the final cleaning of 50 EUR. However, each student is responsible for leaving their room and the common areas of the house in the same condition they got them – clean and tidy. Since students usually move out of the house on different dates, they have to make sure to clean their rooms before they go, and be considerate in helping to keep the shared spaces clean for those staying a bit longer.
We would like to emphasize that the cleanliness of the house is very important to us. We want every new student who moves into the house to come to a clean and tidy room and the common areas of the house. This is why we regularly check the cleanliness of common areas. If we notice that the common areas are dirty, we charge each student 30 EUR in addition to the rent and costs, as specified in each contract.
5. Q: Is the house located on a busy street, or is it generally quiet? And how is the sound insulation?
A: The house is located in a quiet area of terraced houses in a pleasant neighbourhood. There is also an apartment building next to the house; however, it is not a high-rise building. The house is located very close to the busy Dunajska cesta, which has great connections with the public buses, but the neighbourhood is still very peaceful. Insulation is good.
6. Q: Do you have rules about the noise?
A: Of course. We always send a new student a House Rules & Manual, which needs to be respected. All the students need to respect peace and quiet for other lessees and the neighbours as well. They must keep silent during the night (from 22.00 to 7.00).
6.a Q: Are parties allowed?
A: No, parties are strictly forbidden.
7. Q: I’m not sure what dates of arrival and departure to put in the contract. Do you mind if I prolong the contract and stay in the house longer because I want to travel the country a bit before returning home?
A: The date of your departure will be considered as stated in the contract. If you, in any case, decide to leave the room earlier, you should let us know about it at least 60 days in advance (if not, the last rent will be charged until the date stated in the contract).
The contract has a possibility of extension. The period of the extension must be agreed between both parties, with an appendix of at least 30 days before the lease expires. If the room is not available after your date of departure, we cannot prolong the contract.
8. Q: How will the rent be calculated? My date of arrival is 12th February, and my date of departure is 3rd July. Do I have to pay the rent for the whole month in February and July, or is the rent calculated proportionally?
A: The rent will be calculated proportionally. In this specific case, this means we will charge you for 17 days in February and 3 days in July.
9. Q: Will other students stay in your other rooms?
A: Yes, there are mostly students renting the rooms in the house. We aim to have a 3/4 ratio of men to women (or vice versa).
Before sending the contract draft, the student has to send the lessor a confirmation of enrolment in the study programme in Ljubljana (the Mobility Acceptance Letter) and a copy of their document (a passport or a personal ID). More information about the procedure is available on our website Information about the contract and payment.
10. Q: Is the house far from the city centre?
A: The house is located a 2-minute walk from the busy road Dunajska cesta, which has great connections to the city centre by public buses No. 6, 8, and 11 (No. 6 is very frequent and it takes you directly to the city centre; you’ll be travelling there for about 10 minutes). Self-service bike rental in Ljubljana BicikeLJ is available next to the same bus stop on Dunajska cesta.

14. Q: I would like to come to Ljubljana by car. How is parking in Ljubljana?
A: We do not currently offer parking in front of the house. However, if you’d like to come to Ljubljana by car, you have more options:
- Use the car-sharing option. We recommend Avant2Go car sharing. To start using this car-sharing, you need to download the (user-friendly) app.
The closest Avant2Go locations to the Student House Ljubljana are only a 5-minute walk away: Bistro Kucha (Mašera – Spasićeva ulica 8) and Addiko Bank (Dunajska cesta 117). - Street parking: There is a possibility to park your car on the street. From 12th January 2026, parking in this parking zone, where the house is located (Zone 3), costs 0.70 euros per hour. Between 22.00 in the evening and 6.00 in the morning (from 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.), a night rate of 2.00 euros per night has been introduced in all three zones. So the parking on the street could be quite expensive then.
- Parking permit: A student with a temporary residence permit can also arrange a parking permit. Please check this website for details (in Slovenian only).
Eligibility • Zone 2 and 3: residents with permanent or temporary residence are entitled.
Documents you must have with you:
– valid vehicle registration certificate,
– personal identification document,
– proof of housing unit number,
– certificate of temporary residence issued by the Administrative Unit (for residents with temporary residence).
You can return the permit before its expiration if:
– you move,
– you deregister the vehicle,
– you stop using the vehicle or lose your driver’s license.
When returning, submit a written application to the MOL Main Office or send it by mail. Required information: bank account, tax number, and reason for return. The refund is calculated proportionally according to the unused months of validity and is transferred to the specified bank account.
A foreign student can obtain a parking permit. The procedure is in English. You only need what is stated on the website. It is possible to arrange the permit after the end of February of the current year (when you receive a temporary residence certificate). You pay a proportional share (you can buy a permit that is valid until the end of the temporary residence certificate).
