Residence permit vs. Temporary residence permit – what’s the difference?
1. When you arrive, you will sign both documents stated in the contract:
– Authorization for Registration of Temporary Residence and
– Authorization for Deregistration of Temporary Residence.
2. You will have to go to Upravna enota to apply for the residence permit (a “student visa”). The easiest way is to go to the Upravna enota when they set up their Special Desk:
“Every year in September and October (and February for spring semester exchange students), we also organise a special desk and review documents without you having to book an appointment.”
The University of Ljubljana, together with the Administrative Unit Ljubljana, has set up a special desk for its international students. Their International Student Ambassadors will greet you each working day during that time. They will offer guidance for submitting paperwork to apply for a residence permit. It is anticipated that you have all the necessary paperwork on hand, have completed the application form, and intend to submit the required paperwork for your residence permit that same day.
3. When you receive your residence permit, you have to inform us about it and also send us your EMŠO number so we can register your Temporary residence permit at the Upravna enota on your behalf.
If you already have your EMŠO number, you can send it to us in advance. If you don’t, no worries, we will prepare the documents and then fill in the EMŠO number when you get it.
